Teak is used extensively in SE Asia to make doors and window frames, furniture and columns and beams in old type houses.
About Reclaimed Teak Wood.

Teak is a large deciduous tree (Tectona grandis) of the verbena family. Its wood is one of the most valuable and durable of timbers. Resistant to water, teakwood is widely used in ship building, fine furniture, door and window frames, flooring and panelling. Its desirability and slow growth rates has resulted in severe deforestation in some tropical forests. Tangkoko furniture is produced from reclaimed teak harvested from original use timber i.e. bridges, wharfs, jetties and structural beams in housing. The timber has been carefully selected and restored resulting in a rich mature aged patina; extremely durable in a UK climate and less likely to shrinkage or cracking. All our reclaimed teak is sourced from Indonesia and arrives with a certificate of origin from the Perum Perhatani (Forestry Commission) to authenticate that the timber originates from reclaimed sources and not natural forests.
